Akzo Nobel – International Paint, Gateshead

    Project Leader

I led the operational implementation of a SharePoint based intranet across an organisation that contains four distinct business units and spans the globe. As part of this role I advised the regional and market SharePoint coordinators in identifying project requirements and generating solutions. I worked to develop solutions to the strategic issues of an implementation that has a user base of 8000. This included developing and delivering training, identifying 3rd party products that enhanced the implementation where a requirement existed and assisting key business projects to leverage benefit from SharePoint.

I worked on projects with MOSS 2007 to develop content managed Internet sites for several of the business units. This included development of custom web parts, master pages, page layouts, content types, customisation of search, custom workflow, custom navigation controls and variations.

    Waterstons, Durham

    Technical Project Manager

I began working for Waterstons, an IT solutions provider, as a graduate developer using C#, ASP.net and SQL Server 2000. Within 1 year I progressed to the position of lead developer, responsible for all technical design and implementation, on a large e-government project for Darlington Council and the local strategic partnership. This was a web based portal project using C#, ADO.net, ASP.net, SQL Server 2000, Microsoft CMS2002 and Windows SharePoint Services following W3C accessibility guidelines. The portal facilitates the interaction of the partnership members with each other and the people of Darlington through the use of collaborative tools and web content management. During the final phase of the project I was responsible for the delivery of training sessions to end users with a range of skill levels.

I project managed a cost management system for a national house builder and a sales and after care system for the same company. This involved managing a team of 5 developers and testers, ensuring quality standards were maintained, acting as the key client-facing member of the team and chairing client and internal team meetings to assess and report on progress. In addition to project management I was involved in analysis and requirements gathering as well as training for the project.

As project manager I was directly involved in team members appraisal and performance development. This involved providing ongoing coaching, support and direction for team members, managing underperformance, recognising outstanding achievement, setting performance targets and carrying out salary and development reviews.
